Free range music & fun
WoodFest is a music-based weekend gathering sponsored by Symphony in the Flint Hills and held at Camp Wood YMCA near Emporia each fall. This year’s event is September 28, 2019.
All day Saturday, nationally known musicians teach players of all ages, instruments, and experience in dozens of WoodFest Workshops. Non-players are encouraged to pick up an instrument and try it themselves. Highlights include a Saturday evening concert by award-winning musicians, including Eugene Friesen, Max O’Rourke, Jason Anick and the WoodFest Symphonia. The weekend closes Sunday with WoodFest Sunrise as Grammy-Winner Eugene Friesen plays a final moving tribute to the weekend’s hosts, the Flint Hills.
In addition to the music-based activities of WoodFest, families can experience WoodFest Wild through nature walks, horse riding, stories from area cowboys, painting, art, and more.
