Tickets for the 2023 Symphony in the Flint Hills Signature Event will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4. The 18th annual event will take place on June 10 at Wade Pasture near Eskridge, Kan., in Wabaunsee County. This year’s theme is “Transportation in the Flint Hills.”
The Symphony in the Flint Hills Signature Event is an annual gathering on the prairie celebrating music, art and the ecology of the Flint Hills that moves to a different site each year. Gates open at 1 p.m. and the afternoon will feature a range of experiences including inspirational talks and presentations, covered wagon rides, guided prairie walks and roping with outriders. The Kansas City Symphony will perform an evening concert followed by a Flint Hills sunset. After concert experiences include dancing, stargazing and stories by local musicians and poets. BNSF Railway is the event’s Major Presenting Sponsor.
“The site of this year’s Signature Event is located in the northern Flint Hills and serves as a great fit for this year’s theme. The pasture was once home to three converging trails used by dragoons, armies, immigrants, and those headed to the California gold fields,” said Mike Collinge, board chair for Symphony in the Flint Hills. “Whether it’s your first time to attend or you’re a returning guest, we welcome you to join us on June 10 for a day that’s sure to transport us within our minds.”
