Limited Tickets Available to SFH Annual Event

With limited general admission tickets remaining, Symphony in the Flint Hills, Inc. expects its annual summer event to sell out just as it has every year since its first prairie concert in 2006.

“At this point, we’re on track to sell out of general admission tickets before our Signature Event on June 10,” said Christy Davis, executive director for Symphony in the Flint Hills. “We’re encouraging everyone who wants to experience our iconic prairie event to get their tickets now before they’re gone.”

This year’s Symphony in the Flint Hills will take place at Deer Horn Ranch in Geary County on Saturday, June 10. The theme of the 2017 Signature Event is “Chisholm Trail” and will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the famous trail that brought cattle from Texas to Kansas in the years following the Civil War. The day-long event will include presentations about the Chisholm Trail, education about the Flint Hills region, covered wagon rides, cowboy poetry, a silent art auction and food and beverage.

For the event’s finale, the sunset concert will feature the Kansas City Symphony with special guest, country western singer-songwriter Michael Martin Murphey, who will share his passion for cowboy culture and grasslands conservation. After the concert, the day will conclude with dancing, stargazing and a story circle.

In addition to general admission, a limited number of patron packages are also available for those who want to financially support the organization while experiencing the event from a premium vantage point. Both can be purchased online or by calling 620-273-8955.
