And the organization is giving its audience another reason to attend its Signature Event at Rosalia Ranch on June 9. Singer/songwriter Aoife O’Donovan will join the Kansas City Symphony as this year’s guest artist.”Aoife O’Donovan’s unique combination of classical training and Americana roots make her a great fit for us,” said Christy Davis, executive director of Symphony in the Flint Hills, Inc. “Many will recognize her crystalclear vocals from Yo-Yo Ma’s bluegrass-inspired Goat Rodeo Sessions.”

Read more“The Chisholm Trail: Driving the American West” on tour
To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Chisholm Trail, Symphony in the Flint Hills partnered with Flint Hills Design and Lost Trail Soda to create “The Chisholm Trail: Driving the American West” traveling exhibit. This original exhibit invites visitors of all ages to explore the Chisholm Trail from its inception in the 1860s to today. Exhibit highlights include an interactive musical exploration of the scores of verses to the cowboy song, “The Old Chisholm Trail,” video and audio clips of movies and songs that reference the Chisholm Trail, and several artistically rendered, life-size longhorn cattle.

A large-scale mixed media installation – part drawing, part sculpture – is an exhibit by Amy Reckley that questions how we define drawing and traditional landscape. Join us in the Symphony in the Flint Hills Gallery for the installation viewing on January 17 and 18 from 1 to 5 p.m. and the opening reception on January 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. with an artist presentation at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
